Kim Keat Palm Market & Food Centre sits in the heart of Toa Payoh, on a road named after Choa Kim Keat — a Melaka-born businessman who made his fortune in tin with the Straits Trading Company. Built in 1970 to serve nearby residents and industrial workers, it now holds 61 cooked food stalls and 59 market stalls. Heritage runs deep here: Old Long House Popiah traces its roots back to the 1930s, while the original LiXin stall has been recognised in the Michelin Guide Singapore.
Named after Choa Kim Keat, a Melaka-born tin tycoon, this Toa Payoh centre has served the neighbourhood since 1970 — and even houses a Michelin Guide stall.
