Margaret Drive Hawker Centre opened in 2022 with 38 food stalls, part of the redeveloped Dawson estate in Queenstown. It succeeds the old Commonwealth Avenue Wet Market and Food Centre, which traced its roots to 1956 and was one of the earliest hawker markets built as part of Singapore's post-independence hawker programme, after street stalls along Margaret Drive were cleared in 1962. Stalls today include Xin Ji Soya Sauce Chicken, Song Kee Seafood, and Hakka Thunder Tea Rice, carrying old Commonwealth Avenue names into a modern space.
Built in 2022 in the Dawson estate, this 38-stall centre carries forward the legacy of the Commonwealth Avenue Wet Market, which dated back to 1956.
